Description
There's a large herd of Roosevelt Elk on the way to Fern Canyon. They weren't very cooperative, so I mostly got the rear view!!

Uncooperative Elk seem counter to nature...I mean if they aren't cooperative then why are they revealing the parts of their anatomy that provide targeting references? Oh well...no one said they were smart! I love this photo; that's an impressive number of elk, and well...we don't get those in Chicago. Deer, yes...other antlered things...no! Great work with uncooperative models.

Cool panoramic capture of the elk grazing away, Maz! And, by the title I figured it would be a pic of either cigarettes/cigars or the rear end of some creature or other. And I wasn't disappointed.

That's a nice sized herd! What a treat to see and capture these beautiful animals. I have to go to the Peninsula to see any, and as far as I know, they don't graze in front of a sign! LOL!

lol, Andrea! Well I won't go there either. But you could have someone shout, "so, how's your ass!" Anyway, it's amazing not ONE turned around for the camera. Not ONE! I'm sure there are cultures where this is considered a major insult. But it's an amazing sight, esp as their hind quarters are such a light color. (What's that about? Any elks reading this?) Animals really don't care, ya know that? I mean they prance around any old way, make love in public, do things we'd never do, and pretty much moon the rest of us. A cool shot, and great in front of that sign. It's cool that, with all the ferns about to hit you over the head, you found this. And btw, are Roosevelt Elks also known as "New Deal" elks? (Ha ha ha.) (That's a first-rate joke, kid, don't wince!) A really fun capture.
