Description

The original Starbucks was opened in Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington, in 1971 by three partners: English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegel, and writer Gordon Bowker, at the corner of Virginia and Pike Place, where this first-ever Starbucks was in business until January of 1977, when it moved to its current "original" store one block south. While we were at the Market my friend Gabriel decided to take his sister for a pilgrimage to this sacred ground. Yes, Java Junkies, this is where it all began, sort of. We will now pause for a moment of silent prayer. I tipped the banjo player because, as I told him, he was in the shot and I felt I owed him something.

Great photo. I am a coffee lover, but I gotta say, Starbucks really is pretty ordinary/over-priced coffee IMHO. My addiction is fueled HERE!!

Very interesting! I don't actually 'get' what is special about the brand..but, heh! I'm someone who likes plain strong black coffee, so won't pay inflated prices.

You are so funny.... so after we pause for a moment lets then open our wallets. My small little town, well small by what I am use to has three Starbucks. And last time I went I ordered or wanted to order a gingerbread coffee and it wasn't on the drive up menu so I ordered something else then when I got to the window to pay, I told the boy working there, and he said oh we have that its just not on menu, do you want to change your order and I said yes, well he ended up giving me those two free of charge, long story short, I drove off with 4 large cups of coffee, and me and my daughter drank coffee all night. But the person working there was so friendly and chatty I didn't think I would ever get out of there LOL

I'm more of a tea person, myself. It looks awfully crowded, which is great for business, but a bit claustrophobic. I like them when they are part of a book store and you can sit with a hot drink and gloat over new purchases. Great shot of the banjo player. Looks like you caught him mid 'O'. I like the reflection of the lady leaving too. Excellent capture and interesting narrative.

I'm not wild about Starbucks coffee, being in the "it's-too-bitter-and-over-roasted" camp. Seattle's Best for me, tyvm! :) Great shot of this iconic spot.
