Description

Another Namibia upload... This is a very busy image! In the background the Namib Dunes are visible and if you zoom, you will see the road going over the dune. If you zoom more, you might even see the two cars!! The next layer is the ocean of course and the foreground are these colorful rocks. It is a small stretch of beach just outside Swakopmund en route to Walvis Bay that has these perfectly grinded and polished oval shaped rocks in all shapes and colors. We spend quite a long time there but I really want to go back to this particular spot. Incidently, when you drive from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay it is literally the Atlantic on your right and the mighty dunes of the Namib on your left. Most wonderful piece of road - except of course in a sand storm... I have seen the sand taking paint off a car on this very road... Anyway - great weekend to you all! Stay well! Hugs Carin xx

Amazing shot, full of so many incredible things. I'm still awed by the fact the sea can meet the desert anywhere and yet here you prove it again. A stunning shot!1

Breathtaking capture! The sea is so powerful in this photo. Love the colorful stones. As an amateur "rock" collector, I have a few specimens of Dioptase, from the Tsumeb Mine, in the Otavi-Bergland District, Oshikoto, Namibia. Dana

What a wonderful capture so righ in colors of the stones and such a lovely composition too. I am afraid, that if I went to that beach, I wouldnt be able to go home again. I couldnt leave the stones alone :-)

"...sand taking paint off cars...", reminds me of my first two years in the army in the middle of the high Mojave Desert near Death Valley in Southern California. When reassigned to my next post, I had to have the windshield and headlights replaced due to pitting by the sand. Your image here is delightful...all those different textures and I have pitched many wet stones like these into the ocean... Well done:)

I would love to go there and pick through the rocks, but then, I'd have a heck of a time getting them home... I don't think the TSA is going to believe me... wonderful photo

Wow, busy is right, what with the vast array of rocks, pebbles and ocean currents to create a myriad of fantastic patterns, Carin. And if you look still closer, you will see the image of a bus-sized Great White shark, patiently patrolling the waters in quest of its next victim.
