Description

I was hanging over the gunnel tracking a Pacific Shortnose Dolphin which was riding the bow wake of the boat when it surged ahead and busted out of the water just as I snapped the shutter. I lost the very tip of the dorsal fin in the frame, but thought it was an otherwise decent enough shot of one of these playful and beautiful animals. I'm looking forward to the Summer, when the waters around here are teeming with a variety of different whales, porpoises and dolphin. I'm hoping to get some pretty good captures of these magnificent animals soon.

Stunning! This is absolutely perfect. I'm so accustomed to bottlenoses that it's a wee bit disconcerting to see another breed of dolphin! I like this a lot, I'm particularly taken by the size of this critter's blowhole. Its so well defined! Great work!
