Description

Right in the middle of town is this redwood forest. I walk there a lot, it's an easy way to escape. There is this old, hollow stump, about 20 feet high and 10 feet wide, with openings in three places. I walked in, and got this shot. I like how the framing is jagged, and how you see it thru the dark. Oh, there was a fire at some point, the inside is still charred and black.

I thought you were in a cave! I guess, in a way, you were. This is very cool.

It seems there is room for us both! How exciting..I should have made a camp in there as a child. I wonder who is in there after dark.

From the thumb I wasn't sure what it was I was looking at. We have a similar tree here where I like. Great find!

I like this view! I neglected to say that there is a big redwood in Washington state called the Bicycle Tree...it has a hole cut clear through the center and people park their bicycles there...or used to, I haven't seen it in years so may be gone by now...Anyway, back to this, its a beautiful natural frame for what lies beyond and a nice quiet spot to sit and dream!

Very interesting capture, M. Looks like it was taken from within a cave.

WOW! I have inhaled a LOT of science fiction over the years and for some reason this image reminds me of something that Sherri S. Tepper might have written, or maybe even something by Ursula K. LeGuin. WOW! I get the feeling of looking out of "the world tree" or something, at the young forest that grew up as scattered descendants of that one tree. What an engaging image! I love the sense of calm, and well...I love the idea that you can actually stand inside of a tree stump/trunk! WOW! Fantastic. Chicago needs its own version of a Redwood forest...we have the lake, an impressive one at that, but this is wholly different and completely appealing to me on so many levels. WOW! This rocks.
