Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I'm sure the landscape will change a few times more before you can get back to them; I'm surprised they were built there in the first place! Hopefully the sea won't take them completely, and will leave you enough photo fodder!

Nice view for us all to put things in perspective.

Keen panorama, M! Is that your celebrated beach grass I see along the stretch?

I have been fascinated with quicksand for years, and don't laugh' but have always gone out of my way to see it on many occasions throughout my life! Anyway, lets just say I didn't even notice the barns as soon as you mentioned the QS!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful layering effect in the sand! I love how the middle barn seems to be a perpendicular reflection of the sand. The colors of the grass looks beautiful against the sand. Excellent capture!

WOW! I do like those layered strata! Like quicksand, huh? WOW! Who'd have thunk it? The light is fantastic in this, but I have to say that since I'm a giant science fiction nerd, I immediately noticed the structure on the far right. It looks like a modern house or something, but in a way it also resembles a cargo shuttle or an excursion vehicle capable of holding a fairly large away team; I love it when I see things like that, and it all adds to the wonders of an already great photo. This is wonderful work and I can see why you would hang around this place so much. I would too. I wonder...if you lay down and roll, could you cross the quicksand sands without sinking? I wouldn't try it...but I'd get someone you don't like to try it...for research purposes, you know. This is as good and as fun as your pelicans and your fabric...and seeing those has made my week!

I still like the one in the middle best. Something about the shape, texture, color, really appeals to me. Wonderful long shot!

Super depth and still able to see the many details of the barns, are these all abandoned barns? I have to get a better camera! And move back to the country away from all these telephone poles and massive amounts of wires that obscure ones view...this is just beautiful Marilyn!
