Description

As I walked on the beach the other day,I came upon this boot buried in the sand. (It reminded me of the time my son and I were walking out there. He'd taken his shoes off, but a wave came up and took then. He just looked out at them floating in the surf and said, "Mom, the ocean ate my shoes"!!!) I see lots of odd shoes and boots out there, but I have NEVER seen one quite like this. It was in that part of the beach that was soft and spongy, so I guess the water just buried it. OMG--I didn't think to try and UNbury it--I hope no one was UNDER there!!

Not to gross you out but in 2008 a whole bunch of boots with feet still in them washed out on the beaches of Vancouver Island at different times and places. It was all right feet if I remember correctly!! Hopefully this is not one of them! Anyway - very cool find me'dear!!! A real beach treasure! :)

It's fascinating about the shoes, wonder why it always has to be shoes, maybe people take them of, so they won't get wet and then forget them... I wouldn't...lol A fine shot!

A phenomenal capture of the myriad of teeny-weeny lighting and textural effects in this shot, M!

LOL @ sharky...looks like "these boots are made for sinkin'" Great work here. This is a fantastic find. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a footprint. Full sized is super! I really like this shot. Exeter Carbuncle VIII liketh it too.

Yikes! This made my heart leap! My brother was buried in a collapse of sand by the river in the town we grew up in, took 45 minutes to dig him out and we were fortunate that he only suffered a little brain damage. I had completely forgotten that till I saw this. Its a great find and capture Marilyn! Thanks for reminding me of that, something I need to write in our family book!

I read Carin's comment then looked to see if this was a right or left foot! I never heard that one, and I like to think I keep up with those weird facts. Of course, I also think this could be an X-File that nobody knows about...shoes washing up on shore, but only one shoe, buried sole-up. I can see Mulder and Scully on the beach, finding this shoe and digging and digging and fining "the victim" only he's green and has gills and an addiction to Cherry Coke or something weird like that. And now that I have gone on and on and on about something else, I should pull this back in and say something about the picture itself. It's great and a bit spooky. It's a real find, and really, nicely weird.

Sometimes the small things count - these thing that don`t get notice by the most of us - sceneries like this one here. Wonderful catch! And the title brings me to smile.... I dont hope there is a bad surprise in side!
