Description
We continued along Highway 7, passing through the tiny communities of Alder, Elbe, and Ashford finally arriving at Paradise on the backside of Mount Rainier. Under a cloudless brilliant blue sky, what we saw seemed close enough to touch even though it was miles away.

Yes, it is so hard to grasp the scale. I have only experienced mountains once,in Austria, but was rather distracted by being a leader of a schoolparty of 52 teenagers. I spent every night trying to prevent an obsessed 13 yearold trying to access the (terrified) coachdrivers' bedroom.

Beautiful image! I love the different textures of the snow, rough ridges between smooth planes. Wonderful variety of shades in the blue shadows on the Mountain. Stunning clarity and color! Excellent shot!

Never made it all the way to the top, but any kind of hike is gorgeous in this area. So many cascades start from here and the glacial sediments make the water a dreamy color. Enough of my recollections. Gorgeous lighting! Looks like the south east side of Rainer so I'll guess close to the evening hours for this image.
