Description

This picture was taken shortly after the previous one of the Tower of London. The bridge is adjacent to the Tower, hence the name. It is still raining, a cold, penetrating, chilling rain but these Japanese tourists didn't seem to mind. But they did something I didn't do, protect their camera while they were taking pictures. The Tower Bridge was opened on 30 June 1894. It is a combination bascule/suspension bridge with an overall length of 244 m (801-ft). The longest span is 66m (200-ft) and the clearance is 8.6m (28-ft) closed and 42.5m (139-ft) open. This picture was taken on 21 December 2009. Thank you for viewing, commenting, and favs, Sig...

This brings memories back to my mind...I went to London soooo many times but I've not been there for too long. Even in winter there is a special atmosphere in this city. Great shot.

British Rain! Bone chillingly cold!.. But, when the sun shines, beautiful.... Even in winter.. Sights everywhere you look.. Turn a corner,, there's a name you know, a sight from History.. From here, Tower Bridge, tower Of London, HMS Belfast (WW2 Heavy Cruiser)etc! Hope you had a great time, Sig! You were only 80 miles from me! Rob
