Description
I drive past this cemetary on my way to and from work every day. It was the first one when our town was formed in 1786 and was right next to the old meeting house, which is no longer standing.
I love seeing this spot through the different seasons and shall try to get more at different times of the year.
Whenever I walk through a cemetary, I always wonder what the people were like. In this cemetary there is a stone that says the 16 year old boy buried beneath was struck and killed by lightening. I'm sure his parents were heartbroken.
A few of the stones have sunken in a bit and are further hidden by a thick blanket of snow.

Excellent title for this image. Scenes like this give us pause. Nice shot. One small suggest. Perhaps make the image a little smaller so it doesn't overflow one's monitor quite as much. This will allow views to still see a larger view without the distortion. Nice work though.

Very atmospheric capture..reading the inscriptions often unfolds family tragedies. This is a great capture

I'm the same way in old cemetaries. I find myself wondering about the lives lived by those buried there. Another great shot.

I have a thing for churchyards. In this part of the country, is is not unusual in the ancient ones to see entire families, from babies through to grandparents in one location. In the pre 1400's especially. I remember one stone had the name of 4 boy all from the same family, all dying on fishing boats in a 2 year period. Like you, I often wonder at the bravery of those having to cope with such loss. This is a very poignant image. ^=^

Very thought evoking image. The way some of the headstones are almost swallowed up by the snow and the engravings have been scoured out by wind and rain reminds me of unnamed faces staring out from faded postcards. There is a great sense of all the people who have gone before, forgotten to this age. I love visiting cemeteries. There is a cemetery in the backwoods of Louisiana where a lot of my ancestors are buried. I go to it sometimes when I am in the area and read the names of people without whose existence, I wouldn't be. When I was a child, we would go to graveyard working there. The four graves I always remember (besides those of my relatives) were two of children killed by snake bite and two that had pictures of the deceased on the tombstone. There is an introspection you get walking through a graveyard that is different from any other place.

Thank you for your Patriot comment about them facing my beloved Broncos. I had to come here and thank you personally. When I noticed this Historic gavesite, I couldn't help but think of the True Patriots burried here. I take it the game between the Patriots and the Broncos isn't going to happen, because your Patriots are Resting in Peace? lol - I am looking forward to that game... and I do look at the Pats are the Broncos biggest hurdle - HOWEVER.... is it true the Patriots haven't been to the Superbowl in 7 years? Maybe our game will be closer than anyone thinks.... you know everybody is gonna say the Pats will win - BUT everybody loves an Underdog.... I felt this way before Tebow became the starter... I haven't felt a Superbowl team here in Denver in over a decade - since Elway... Tebow is only gonna get better - I'm glad the Playoffs aren't for another month = the more time the better - then again, I have not seen as many QBs hurt in one season as this year - it's wild - we may see 3rd stringers in the superbowl - lol.... speaking of the Superbowl, they just announced Madonna is the half time show - she's My Favorite Female Vocalist - Superbowl is looking better and better = lol ..... on the last note, You do realize the Patriots play in Denver? I think if the Pats lose you aught to make a picture for your gallery saying how good the Broncos are? I'll take that bet - lol Very cool picture you have here and enjoy your Pats while it lasts, cause once Brady goes, it sucks, trust me, I've waited over ten years for a miracle QB like Elway to play for the Broncos.... and yes, I like Brady - I love Football.

Ah, Mike, you are right on...without Brady, the Patriots would be so much less...rather like the Colts this year. I don't care for Manning much, but I have to admit that he IS a good quarterback...and yes, Brady is the best thing that has happened to the Pats in many, many years...and yes, if we lose him to injury or down the line age/injuries, yes...we will be back to the Pats of yesteryear...we can only enjoy it while we have it!!! And as I said, the Broncos always give the Pats a run for their money!!! Nothing is certain, as Pats coach Bill Belicheck is fast to point out...the Dolphins and Denver always seem to give our Pats a hard time...and Tebow is good!!! So the Pats cannot go into the game thinking yeah, easy win...NOT!!! But yes, as you pointed out, in the old cemateries of old, the TRUE Patriots lie sleeping in death...maybe not so much in our little town here in New Hampshire, but just a little ways down south, in the Boston area...so many Patriots of old...I can only imagine them rolling over in their graves seeing the government of today....but,I shall stop here, LOL...Don't want to get on my soapbox, LOL...keep posting your great renders!!!
