Description

This is the “ball gunner” or "belly gunner" under the belly of a B-17G World War II bomber. It is placed just behind the bomb bay doors. The gunner flies backwards and protects his aircraft and crew from enemy fighter planes attacking from behind. Taken 3 days ago at the Baca Raton airport in Florida. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments and favs. Dana

Super shot, Not a nice place to be stuck if the plane had to make a crash landing.

Reminds me of a big bulldog with "accoutrements" intact; what a very male design this is!

A stellar POV employed in this shot of the belly pod, Dana! This had to be one of the most uncomfortable and vulnerable spots on the aircraft.
