Description

The other day when Bill and I went to the beach I took a couple of candid pictures of him. Of course most shots like this don't turn out, because the subject is often talking or blinking or something. You just have to keep trying until you get something you like! This was taken at Mukilteo Beach on the same day we got those gorgeous sky shots. Look at the sky behind him ... it's totally white. The clouds were blowing so fast the sky changed every 30 seconds, I swear!

Excellent portrait, that looks like a really genuine grin. Being the subject of candid shots is hard, it always makes my face freeze into a totally stupid expression that screams "self conscious!!!!" And yes, it also brings on untimely blinking and mouth openings.

Is one supposed to comment on his own informal portrait? It doesn't seem quite right, does it? LOL. I was genuinely laughing here because I had been mentally lost...off on shooting the gorgeous "sun breaks" in an ominous Mukilteo sky...only to turn around to find Tara pointing her camera right at me from maybe just 5-6 feet away. SURPRISE! So, now thanks to auntietk's persistence, I am honored to join the other 58 folks she has taken informal portraits of in her gallery to date!!! Thanks my friend:)

Great shot Tara. Isn't it funny how so many photographers love being behind the lens but hate being in front of it!

What a portrait! Such an open and friendly face...that's always a great thing. Great sense of color and presence as well, and that sky...well...Chicago skies are um...gray and lifeless and I'd love to see 30 quick changes here...we just get gray, with a little bit of gray thrown in to make it interesting. I love the candor in this shot, the emotional warmth, and the all around clarity of it. This is super work!
