Description

This is a new version of this scene: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1998773. My original intention was to create a steampunk version of Venice. I think I got the Venice part and a Victorian look for the people, but I wanted a stronger steampunk look. For this render I added lots of pipes and tried a more industrial looking post-processing effect. The new features are props from DAZ’s Pipe and Tunnel set and Steamworks and from Baumgarten Enterprises. See the original image description for the other scene elements. This new image was post-processed in Photoshop with AdamWright’s Brown Tones Toon Action.

This really reminds me of a pen/ink and watercolour illustration from way back when I was learning to illustrate, the pipes give it a really weirdly surreal look, I like it!

You've truly captured the magic of the game +5 from doarte's MADHOUSE

a very interesting work... looks like a sketch for the screenplay of the movie 'Division of exceptional gentlemen' (excuse me it's the free re-translation from the german title of the movie, don't know the english origin). personally i don't like to much the term 'steampunk' - i prefer 'era of jules verne', because the most concepts of these scenerys are part of his literature ( and of some contemporaries like zulawski in poland or kurt lasswitz in germany) nethertheless - an extraordinary image...

Thanks all - this may be the most comments I've received on an image. Aubedo, I can't drop the term steampunk, but in the future I'll also use "Vernian" or something similar. Thanks for the insight.

Excellent scene. I've been to Venice. A really inconvenient city to get around.
