Description
Bald River Falls off the Cherohala Skyway, Tellico Plains, TN. Temps were in the mid 20s and the mist was freezing on the trees surrounding the falls. Taken 1/27/10.

Thank you for posting this great photo. I've taken quite a few shots of these falls, on 35mm, a long time ago. Always loved the ledge, on the middle left, which launches the water into the air. This is an unusual perspective, not coming from the center of the bridge. The ice coated limbs add a lot! This brings back wonderful memories of trout fishing at the falls, and on the Bald River trail above the falls.

I did get shots from the center of the bridge, but I liked how the ice covered trees looked....how the light hit them. It may not be huge but Bald River Falls is one of the prettiest waterfalls I've seen and definitely worth the short side trip to get to them.

Bald River Falls can be viewed right from the road and bridge. There is a trail to go to the top and closer but it was extremely icy the day we were there.
