Description

Tara (auntietk) photographing our 87 year old docent at Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection. "Art" is a charmer. He flew 50 missions over Germany and Austria during World War II as a waist gunner on the B-17, "Short Snorter". Art is a proud veteran and a great guy to look up if you ever find yourself at Paine Field in Everett, Washington. Here's the picture Tara was in the process of taking: Click Here for "Charmer" Bill:) "More at the Marina" thumb_2011685.jpg

Nice, effective and balanced flash shot of the photographer and photographee, Bill. So, that's how Tara looks. I had never seen her full sized. And the charmer docent looks in great shape and loyally dedicated to the daily task at hand.

Nice way to share a great day out and more so with such a great character! I look forward perhaps, to the day when one is able to charm without being considered a terrible flirt.. Seems difficult these days in the ever increasing PC views..

I love this shot...it's warm and giddy at the same time, and that's the way life should actually be! I love the expressions; I can tell everyone was having fun, even the plane in the background with the garish shark teeth is grinning...it's an upside down snarling grin but a grin nonetheless! Planes always try to look so fearsome! Great color and this is the kind of picture that reminds me of why I like people so much--well, the non-icky people. I wouldn't dare point a 10 meter cattle prod at the icky ones, let alone my camera: why immortalize them after all. So in short, this is a fun and fantastic shot! Tara is wearing that grin I've grown accustomed to...it's so gleeful and open and warm...and Art looks like quite the charmer and spinner of amazing tales; I'd love to just sit down and have a beer with him and just let him recount the numerous adventures he's surely had. Maybe he and I could recount tales of German beer and even debate whether German Pils is actually a true Pilsner; Czechs don't think so unless they're intentionally being diplomatic and then they say "yeah, yeah, pils and pilsner are the same," and then when they think you're not looking, they smirk as if to say "yeah right!" Funny...great photos always make me think of beer. I wonder why?

Super shot of Tara and Art. Can't wait to check that place on my next trip to the west coast. All these guys are true heroes for sure. I was touring a B-17 in Boca Raton, Florida on January 22nd. My guideā€™s name was Ross. He only let me photograph his hat and T-shirt. He started out flying P-40 Flying Tigers and then B-17s. He flew 140 missions in total. Sat on the floor and just listened for hours. Wheelchair bound but sharp as a tack. Dana
