Description

The Duelist Power Armor combat system is used by the Terran Protectorate Colonial Marines as an all-environment, heavy combat and reconnaisance mecha. Standing only 9 feet tall, the suits are well armored, but light and fast. The pilot sits in the body cavity with his legs extending into the thighs. His arms sit on armrests inside the chest cavity in sleeves that interpret nerve signals to arm muscles and translate them to the mech's arm units. This can be unnerving for some, since their arms are temporarily paralyzed while they are sync'd with the power armor. The fingers themselves are unaffected, able to operate control keypads and joysticks that allow flight and weapon control. If the pilot needs to do fine finger manipulation, they can slip their hands into neural gloves temporarily, and then slip them out again when done. The Duelist's main weapons are four medium-powered pulse lasers; a pair on each arm. It also has a shoulder-mounted rocket launcher with a payload 9 LADAR-guided rockets, which can either be high-explosive, armor piercing or fragmentation loads. On the other shoulder is the "chain gun," a rotary-barrel electromagnetic acceleration gun (a.k.a. railgun) that fires bursts of 10 mm tungsten darts that can viciously chew up targets at short range. The Duelist has limited flight capabilities, able to use its jets to perform thrust-assisted jumps, or sustained, subsonic flight. It also has manuevering jets for mobility in space or micro-gravity. Perhaps the most notable feature of the Duelist is its ability to operate in extremely hostile environments. The armor can operate in temperatures exceeding 800 degrees fahrenheit or below -100 degrees for extended periods of time. It can also operate in up to 20 times standard earth atmospheric pressure and in 4 times earth's gravity while keeping the pilot isolated from the effects. This is the first mecha I ever designed. I created it a couple years ago on DOGA, but the bones and parenting doesn't export, so they're kinda mecha statues at this point unless I take the time to export each limb separately and then parent them in carrara or another program. I did this image to see if they were worth the work that would be involved. I think they look pretty good, though I might make a few minor modeling changes. Let me have your feedback. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

Looks good, is the pilot seated in the torso, or does he/she extend into the limbs ?

Nicely modelled, if well textured would definitely be worth rigging in Poser. Also that truck in the background looks oddly familiar :D

How'd you get my generator? Er, well sorry, just looked like mine. LOL Great render! Those Bots look armed to bear and ready for action. Combat orders are in the mail. If the parts are grouped and will export as obj that way (groups intact), it would be possible to rig for Poser without too much trouble.

I like them! Perhaps beef up the forearms to indicate how powerful the lasers are?

These mechas as quite nice, just integrate the lasers into the arms structure (similar to dlund's comment) and they'll be perfect in my point of view !
