Description

A good ninja photographer must be ever vigilant for the next great photo opportunity, and this means carrying your camera with you at all times. The only place I don't take my camera is into the shower. Even when you do mundane things, like going to the grocery store or taking out the trash. Case in point: I lugged out the garbage last night and was about to descend the stairs to the alley when the motion sensor of a nearby house clicked on and illuminated the darkness. I had just enough time to wrestle the camera out of my coat and snap a few quick shots before the light clicked off again. I believe I said something about random chance in a previous post: here it is again. This photo was made in the Albany Park area of Chicago on February 5th, 2010.

The light, the shadows--all of them work together to make this a great foto. Talk about shooting from the hip, you absolutely nailed this one!!

A man after my own heart! This is the advantage of a pocket camera. Great to get a feel of where you live from this perspective!

Excellent! You do have a happy felicity of getting shots that get an emotional response from me, even if I can't quite elucidate it. (Not for lack of trying, as my mammoth comments attest to.) I love the bright white in the circle of brown. The white is almost blinding and I'm not sure if the response to it is negative or positive. In one mood, I might take it positively, like a port in a storm, a place of safety. In another mood it might be a blinding light of inquisition. Intruding into my world and trying to control it. All that from a trip to take out the garbage. Pretty cool! I'm glad you keep your camera at the ready!

What a great moody shot. The type of movie shot down by the docks at night.
