Description
This was early this morning at Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee. We had yet another winter meteorological event last night, and thus consequently first on my list this morning was heading out to Elmwood.
It's been close to 7 years since I first crossed the stone bridge leading into Elmwood, but heaven's blessing of a freshly fallen snow is a rarity (or apparently WAS before man-made caused global cooling took effect).
I took over 200 photographs, WAY more than the norm I'd finally disciplined myself to taking. But since I've been there only once before with snow, I thought I better not take any chances on a blown shot!
This is one of the many narrow roads inside Elmwood Cemetery (in spite of the POV), originally constructed in the early 1800's for a horse & carriage. Since I was about to drive over it and leave my truck prints behind, I sensed a moral obligation to preserve this early morning tranquil moment before my intrusion.
So I stopped and shot this photo, and then waited for another appreciative photographer behind me to do the same. Kindred spirits!
My first post from this morning (it's actually after midnight now) is called Snow Angel, one of my favorite Elmwood memorials in the springtime, but also quite stunning in a winter's snow.
All for now!
