Description

This is a Great White Egret. Because the wind was blowing his feathers, it looks like a Snowy Egret but the Snowy Egret has a black bill. Great White Egrets are about 39 inches (99cm) long and a wingspan of 51 inches (130cm). Breeding adults have a green area between the eye and the bill. There is a Great aWhite heron that also looks like this except it has yellow legs. Taken at the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, February 2nd. We have 2 white egrets, (don't know which though) on the park at the moment. I carn't get close enough for a pic & my camera is limited I am afraid!!!! I love the way the wind is blowing the beautiful white feathers in this pic!!!!!

Pretty good shot of the egret, looking like it's caught in a galelike wind, Dana. Nice contrast against all that branchy foliage. I know it's really stretching the imagination, but the bird seems to me like a pelican that didn't quite develop.
