The images I have chosen to show on Renderosity are just a small sample of my 2D vector and 3D CGI artwork. Interested viewers are invited to also visit my personal website: http://www.dcmstarships.com BIO I enjoy creating original designs of speculative starships, space stations, and futuristic architecture. I started out using TrueSpace for 3D modeling and rendering. Now, I use Rhino5 for 3D modeling and rendering. 2D touch up work on my images is done with Corel Draw and Corel Photo-Paint. For backgrounds, I have used Hubble Space Telescope photos, Universe Image Creator, Lunar Cell and various Photoshop tools provided by fellow Renderosity artists. In addition to making my own artwork, I enjoy reviewing the work of other 3D CGI artists, especially those also doing spaceships. I try to support my fellow Renderosity artists by making supportive comments on those images that catch my eye. I like to buy science fiction themed 3D CGI parts and custom photoshop brushes from the Renderosity Marketplace as another way to support my fellow artists.

Nice design! Not sure about the rivets, though. Looks a little too retro.

I have to agree with geirla, the texture for the ship does not fit with the design. It makes the ship look like it was design during the industrial revolution. The ship design is excellent but the texture for the hull needs to be different. If this ship is from the 23 century then more than likely you would have a very aerodynamic hull with very little showing as to how the plates on the hull are attached. David your designs are always well thought out and are always enjoyable to view. Cheers, David

Most Interesting presentation!

I agree with the comments above that my choice for hull texture was unusual. I wanted the hull to be chrome plating with rivets look. I realize that the result gives the craft a retro feeling. My intent was to give the craft a hopeful innocence often lacking from so many modern visions of future spacecraft designs. The Deep Space Explorer "Aqaurius" mothership actually uses this same hull texture, but the scale used on the large vessel probably lessens the "future-past" effect.

COOL has the realistic, functionable feel of Space:1999 or 2001: A Space Odyssey!!! David
