Description

Another design in the series of support craft for Deep Space Explorer "Aquarius". I agree with the comments on the large shuttle design that my choice for hull texture is unusual. I wanted the hull to be chrome plating with rivets. I realize that the result gives these craft a retro feeling. My artistic intent was that this "future-past" look would evoke a feeling of hopeful innocence. The Deep Space Explorer "Aquarius" mothership actually uses this same hull texture, but the scale used on the large vessel probably lessens the "future-past" effect. All the designs set in my "Deep Space Exploration Group" fictional setting are meant to be romanticized visions of spaceships rather than serious proposals for actual future human spacecraft. The designs I have done that express my concepts of what I hope actual future human ships may resemble are "Solar System Explorer Endurance," "Starship Inquiry," and "Interstellar Exploration Vehicle Large Leviathan."

It's still a nice design. As for the texture, if it's a "styling" choice, then who am I to argue. Future fashion sense is bound to be different than we expect.
