First fruits of our trip to see Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection.

Oh, excuse me, the plane! Yes,...A beautifully, fully restored British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vc. This one is in unit markings of the Royal Air Force 312, "Free Czech" Squadron.
We'll both have a lot more jewels to post over time from this collection.
I employed my postwork style here that worked well for me 5-6 months ago after visiting the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.

The legendary Spitfire...Marvelous to see one restored to such magnificent condition... An hunting friend of my Dad passed away this year. He flew a Spitfire during WWII's Battle of Britain.... Cheers Ken

Oh yes, this should get Rob's blood pumping....maybe even Andrea's. Fine POV employed in this three quarter shot of the storied aircraft, Bill. This one is really decked out in colorful markings and camouflage.

WOW! What a gorgeous piece of aviational machinery! It's graceful and wonderfully colored. I'm always amused by the colors that humans apply to machines, and I'm especially touched by the circular version of the Czech Flag placed prominently at the fore of the cockpit. I always get oddly patriotic when I see that flag, which is--just so you'll know--a bit more um...polite than the twin-tailed "rampant lion" that graces the Czech coat of arms. That particular lion is both male and anatomically correct, which is a hoot when you look at Czech coins and notice a little something extra. Wonderful shot that causes my brain to make all sorts of associations.

It sure has been a cold winter here, I need to take one of those out west trips, so I can remember what sunshine looks like, more chance of light snow here today... Rob HAS seen it, Rose! Would not miss this... lol A Vc.. Not the ultimate (and pilots fave) that was the Mk9.. This mark, was the one the one that was found wanting when suddenly (VERY!) coming up against the Fw190.. Totally outclassed in every aspect.. Speed, Climb, Dive, Turn.. The Mk 9 was rushed in and found to be the most popular of them all... But this is an outstanding looking Spit! And in this time and age, who cares if it was or was not the best.. It STILL looks the best! Bar none! Brilliant work Bill.. Eyes recovered? Rob
