Description

Ever been greeted by a Monkfish before? Think how many thousands of boatloads of fish have covered these iced down display cases. When I first visited this very counter in this exact same location, the year was 1971. Zoom to read the signs:) Location: Pike Place Market, Seattle. MMM!!! Nice assortment of fish. But wow...it certainly is a LOT more expensive out there than here in NH!! Well, I've never been greeted by a monkfish, but I've eaten some and it tastes a lot like Maine lobster! Nice looking fish market! Plenty of ice to keep things really fresh.

I think that monkfish is an imposter, I don't him wearing a brown wool robe or sandals. Maybe he's a different order!! Great shot---I wandered thru here when I was in Seattle last year--it's a great place!!

Someone should scribble underneath the greeting "Eat more chicken!" LOL! Did you watch the guys tossing fish over people's heads? That's a great show...quick thinking and funny repartee!

Very interesting! We've lost our local fishmongers, but there is a iced slab of fish in the supermarket.

Yes, say hello to the expensive fish. They look like they're under a ton of snow. Other than the prices, I never see that in my local supermarkets. In any case, nice capture of the various sea life and hand printed signs, Bill.

Wow - this is too cool, Bill! Great shot, love the signs. I'll pass on the monkfish and octopus, but I'm all over the trout, tilapia, and mackerel. Tilapia on the grill is awesome!

Seafood is one of my favorites. There's very little of it I won't eat. Baby octopus is probably something I won't eat simply because I'd be too interested in raising pet octopi...they're like woodlice to me...cute! I love the variety of fish here. I also love the vibe of this place; I get the feeling of buzzing human activity, a frenzy of buying and selling, and even a bit of haggling. Well...maybe not haggling, but I can dream. This is amazing. I like it immensely.
