Description

Like my last post, this shot was taken from Buntzen Lake near Vancouver BC. The Buntzen No.1 powerhouse produced Vancouver's first supply of hydroelectric power in 1903. (The Buntzen No.2 plant was added in 1914) In 1951 the Buntzen No.1 was completely redeveloped. Today the two plants continue to supply power to the Lower Mainland. I struggled a little bit on how I wanted to present this... I have a few different angles of this and I also thought about doing it in monotone... In the end this is what I came up with. Post work: Cropped; Adjusted B&W levels, contrast, brightness and saturation. Also did a little bit of sharpening. Thanks for viewing! (Best viewed in full size)

As others have said, this is a beautiful shot and so perfectly composed and presented. What I particularly like about this is the way it could come across as restful or even as brooding. The palate of colors is superb: the colors are all rich, but there is a dark quality to this that implies mystery, or at least a "hidden" sort of solitude. This is gorgeous work.
