Description

A quick posting to remember that here Carnival is a very serious business. Yesterday Venice was literally invaded by hordes of people. The fact that yesterday it was Valentine's day and the last Sunday of Carnival, as well as a pefect sunny day, caused the worst crush in years. Trains were overfull since early morning and impossible to get into. The city was closed to visitors for five hours, while a thick mass of human bodies squeezed to breath and move along the most famous streets. This shot was taken in a small square hidden at the end of a back alley... and it was empty of humanity. Almost... Thank you for your kind comments.

I have to say it sounds like a real nightmare during this time and that is why I really liked this photo you took to represent your attempt to break away from it all if even for a moment. Lovely work Sandra

so you where lucky getting at a spot with no humans, terrible thinking beeing squeezed in in a mass of people sweating stinking and farthing not my way i would get claustrophobic at once and then a lot have bad breath also eeuuuuuuw. but besides that carnival is fun i used to work as discjockey in germany for carnival it was hell i tell you and all the dates with the crispy girls.no viagra in my time we got the job done clean hehehehe. have a nice day. this brought back sweet memories indeed.

You who are of Padua, I think, do not you find that these events are not "over-estimated" by the agency show ... Realtime 'play' sold out?

Ca donne envie d'y être. J'espère que l'inévitable côté commercial n'aura pas trop empiété sur le naturel et la joie du carnaval.

spooky image... and that is a good thing...the fact that such celebrations used to be banned by the church, but still carried out, despite the threat of retribution... he stand like a sentinel... guarding the need for joy, the need to laugh... guarding against those who would love to take the joy away... stunning!

Wonderful shot... I don't like empty streets, but neither overcrowded... did you hear about that train crash in Belgium?
