Description

A quick posting to remember that here Carnival is a very serious business. Yesterday Venice was literally invaded by hordes of people. The fact that yesterday it was Valentine's day and the last Sunday of Carnival, as well as a pefect sunny day, caused the worst crush in years. Trains were overfull since early morning and impossible to get into. The city was closed to visitors for five hours, while a thick mass of human bodies squeezed to breath and move along the most famous streets. This shot was taken in a small square hidden at the end of a back alley... and it was empty of humanity. Almost... Thank you for your kind comments.

What a striking image! It's a glimpse into another age, though I'm a bit unsure of which age...it's just otherworldly. I love how sleek and almost predatory he looks. His dark clothing is a perfect compliment to the vivid surroundings and the composition is super. This is great!
