Description

For the Fantasy Hunks February contest - Angels! - over on Deviant Art. --- Posed in Daz, lighting, environment and render done in Vue, postwork done in Photoshop and Sketchbook Pro. --- This render took around three weeks, from start to finish. The final render in Vue took 32 hours. It came out well, after postwork. Really love rendering in Vue and the controls vs the controls in Daz, and very much enjoy painting and doing touch-up in Sketchbook Pro. From the non-geek side, this image was actually a huge challenge for me. I am not a huge fan of angels by default, but really wanted to test my limits by stepping out of my comfort zone and doing something I don't normally do, but still making it my own. So I spent most of this particular project alternating between "Uuuuuugh, ANGEL" complete with flashbacks to the days of wandering through Christian bookstores with my mom as a kid and looking at the cards and plauqes with bible quotes on them.... and the other half of this project going "Okay, how do we do Angel but still make a strong image that takes the focus off of "Oh, foofy-sappy Angel!" and put that focus on the content of the image?" I could have done the evil batwing type demon-angel, or a possible statement, but wasn't feeling up to a theological statement image or going straight dark and bad ass. I really wanted to take a "Good" Angel and make him feel... real. Complete. Not just a one dimensional pretty face with wings, but someone with a goal, a mission, a purpose, a reason for being there. Depth. A bit of character. With a point of view that complimented that character, that drew the viewer in. Lofty goals. Here's to hoping they were accomplished.

This is wonderful! The render quality is wicked and what I love especially is the brilliant flash of light at his wings that really gives this a transcendent,, heavenly feel. Beautifully done!

Wow, this one made me just about pop outa my skin when I opened it. Not a fan of angels at all but this is one wopping powerful image no matter the genre. Two powerful wacks: the intense perspective and those eyes.
