Description
Captured 10/18/09, at the beautiful Orchid Show held in the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California.

Just one of 150 orchid pics I had to agonizingly choose from. Decisions, decisions. And that doesn't even include the beautiful bunch I have from the beautiful Quail Botanic Gardens in beautiful Encinitas, California.
Normally I would post a rose at each century mark, but now, with this stash of lovely orchid shots, it is the wave of the future.

Well Harry, It's a great wave! I never realized how beautiful orchids were until recently. The are gorgeous, and the color is marvelous. Great shot. Congratulations on #1300. I'll look forward to those centennial orchids :)

Well Sir Harry, it's my first official comment since mid-January, and I started with this because it was your 1300th, a milestone for one of our most consistently exploratory, varied and beautiful galleries. A beautiful "frilly-edged" set of orchids (Denise's words); and I agree with Tara that they're absolutely gorgeous. You caught the frills, the strange sensuous language of the orchid, and at the same time you caught their "flower" look (ie, some orchid shots are so other worldly, they look like creatures from another planet). Nice light too, and nice soft-focus background. The great thing about your milestones is that you're not putting up several images a day, so your 1300 means you've been loyally posting for all the days & months that 1300 involves...and tirelessly so, assembling your montages & single images, and always looking for more & more subjects---sometimes right under your nose---& ways to express the world through your camera. Congratulations, it's a beautiful shot and a pleasure to see 1300 from you: I wish you many, many more Harry!

Oh Harry! I am so sorry I wasn't here to congratulate you on your 1300th, but I do congratulate you now. The orchids, one of my mom's favorite flowers, are beautiful in detail, light and color! The macro is marvelous! I think this image makes them appear a bit shy, perhaps a part of their mystique, they appear to be bowing their heads for you. Soft, frilly fabrics surrounding the flowers head as if they are of royalty, dressed to the T's for a beautiful ballroom dance. Bravo! tho I can't get here often right now I look forward to another 1300 from you!!!
