Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Great photo, Bill. And I always try for a window seat, camera or not.

Excellent capture! I saw a similar view whilst passing Las Vegas en route for Los Angeles. An amazing shot and such an awesome sight. Thank you for sharing :)

Wow, I've never been there either; and if I've flown over it I was asleep. This is marvelous!

Wow...have never seen the Grand Canyon...well, at least this one. Did visit some Hawaiian islands on our honeymoon and on Kaui we visited the Grandy Canyon of the Pacific. Both look spectacular!

I lived in Arizona for 13 years and never got to the Grand Canyon. I did get there in the early 70's, and saw just a very little bit of it. This is a spectacular foto-and yeah, I ALWAYS get a window seat for this very reason. In fact, I just posted a shot I took a couple of years ago somewhere over New Mexico.

superlative shot, but one can take photos with an electronic camera on a flight?

Wow, Bill, nice aerial shot - it is indeed a GRAND Canyon! I've been there, a long time ago, but this view is amazing! I always get a window seat whenever possible. Great capture! I got a really neat shot of downtown Chicago a few years ago - I'll have to find it and post it ;-)
Deadly_Ernest

I too always like a window seat for the same reason. Even over the ocean there is heaps to see. I like this view of the canyon with all the craggy details and the snowy tops.

Wow! The blue tint looks kinda cool, it adds the the other worldlyness of the place. Spectacular POV, I would never consider an aisle seat. I hope you post some more.

Neat overhead shot of the awesome Grand Canyon, which I have stood on the rim of, looking down in awe, despite my acrophobia. I wonder if you could have eliminated the blue tint by use of the PS color balance tool, that I have used in the past. I know this is one big vast natural wonder, but it doesn't compare in size with the Valles Marineris on the planet Mars. It makes the Grand Canyon look like a ditch in comparison. Valles Marineris (Latin for Mariner Valleys, named after the Mariner 9 Mars orbiter of 1971–72 which discovered it) is a system that runs along the Martian east of the Tharsis region. At more than 4,000 km long, 200 km wide and up to 7 km deep, the Valles Marineris rift system is larger than any of Earth's largest canyons, and is the largest known canyon in the solar system. for sure when I fly to Vegas I ask for window and got my camera in tow.usually the windows are scratched and discolored but one trip I was on a new jet and it was clean all the way from Dallas to there.sometimes I am on the wrong side of the jet to see the canyon but that time I had an unobstructed view excellent shot.did you win in Vegas

The Grand Canyon is a wonderful place. I have a heap of shots here I must post. I've seen it from a helicopter, whilst trekking it and also from a mule, but never from this high up. Thanks so much for posting it Bill. I've never been there when it has been snowing.
