Description

I been haveing this image from spring of 2009 so it now too old. I know of Joan of Arc from child hood. then I look her up on google and read the history of her and a lot that was never teach to us like her betrayal by the Franch king and the Pope also. here is a wonderful link I liked too from the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Canada writer George Graham http://www.stjoan-center.com/topics/george.html of couse there is a lot of history on her and it is well recorded history too. I posted yesterday about people leaveing this site for the wrong reason and then I started to read on joan of Arc and say to myself " And these people on Ren. got toubles???" This woman was killed and the ones who killed her got away with killing her too. And then she was find not guity at all. anyway France give the city of New orleans this gift in 1972. here is a link to the history of this http://www.stjoan-center.com/topics/jcraven.html thank you for looking and comments and favorite

What can you say... war is hell... keep in mind she was also responsible for the killing of many english soldiers and gave them no quarter either. There are always two sides to ANY story. The French loved her but the English hated her... Maybe she should not have told the clergy that she talked directly with God (Something reserved for the clergy of that day and to do otherwise was blasphemy and heresy) and that he told her to fight the English (she was so successful and popular that the French King feared the competition). If I did that now days they would also take my life I fear... She was brave or fanatical depending on your point of view.. She does make for nice statuary though doesn't she??? I guess if she had not died in the manner she did there would be a lot less statues around... Excellent photo by the way. I love the heavy dramatic contrast used here. It brings out the real strength in the sculpting.. 5++

Great POV, Jocko! This si a splendid monument to a brave woman. Lessons in her story about how the powerful betray their people.

WOW!!! One similar to this, was given to the town where I was born, just after World War II, Gloucester, Massachusetts, except there was no flag. I also noticed the identical statue at the Palace of Legion in San Francisco. I will have to find a photo of one of them. Super POV and great capture. Dana
