Description

The "Glensheen Mansion" is in Duluth, Minnesota. This is where I took the last few photos I've uploaded. We toured the house, which is amazing. I was not allowed to take photographs inside, but was allowed to roam the grounds and take as many Photos as I wanted. That is Lake Superior behind the house. I could have spent the whole day here exploring and taking photos.. but I was with others and we had an agenda. Mainly, my friend had to catch a plane that evening. Thanks for looking. It doesn't look like a "sitting" garden but this is one I'd love to move around in. The lake in the distance is a good place to rest the eyes.

Hmmmm, someone has cultivated a vast rose garden. Nice ambiance in this shot of the lovely mansion, contrasted against the Lake Superior mist, Melinda.

This is quite lovely...I think I have to become a famous writer/photographer and then buy it so that I can get a particular Russian to move in and help me run the artists' commune that this is destined to become (at least in some wacky fantasy.) Are those peonies on the left? I love their color! The whole image is so rich in color and form...the architecture strikes me as that sort of exposed timber architecture I enjoyed in the Czech Republic, usually in bars where I was the only English speaker AND the only person with skin that wasn't pink. Needless to say, that whole "exotic thing" insured that I always got free shots of Slivovice distilled under somebody's kitchen sink, or Becherovka, and invitations to attend impromptu parties that usually involved even more rocket fuel--um, I mean, alchohol! Such parties were always at little "insignificant" places that looked like this mansion. Czechs are weird...they'll build something the size of a small city, then turn around and call it a house! Go figure! I love your use of ambient light here...it's bright enough to reveal everything, but so much of the color is kept muted in that wholly "ambient" way that really works well for this kind of photography. Excellent work.
