Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I've had a few of these in the past, but I got fed up with not being able to hear the birds over them on some days, so they remain unreplaced as they die! I like yours though!

I always thought of wind chimes in the way that I think of the proverbial immortal monkey with a typewriter. After centuries of random pecking on the keyboard, that proverbial monkey could conceivably write one page of brilliant prose. It's the same with wind chimes, if the wind keeps blowing and all wind chimes on the planet react, it's possible (though such possibility is remote at best) that one of them could "chime" Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" or something. I find that thought quite amusing, especially since I like wind chimes. I grew up in a house with bamboo wind chimes and I always liked the almost cicada-like clatter they made. In fact, I wrote a story concerning aliens whose language was composed of hollow clicks and pops (and after watching the movie District 9, I was somewhat annoyed by the fact that the director of that movie stole my idea! How dare he!) Anyway, I like this shot quite a lot and I can imagine the sound of those chimes. It's oddly relaxing, though they make such random (and sometimes overpowering) sounds. The light and the colors are wonderful, as always, and that just adds a bit of something I can't quite put my finger on to this picture. Great work!

Well, I figure I'll chime in with a well done, Marilyn! You have quite a few of these music makers to pick up your mood. And, I don't have the time to read the book Chipka wrote above. I'm sure it's most nostalgic.

Lovely capture of the wind chimes Marilyn I think they would get to me after a while thats why I don't have any.. and we have a half acre section too so if there was any they would be down the bottom by the farmers paddock... sorry we have one in the lounge someone gave to Robyn as a present but it never seems to chime so thats ok or out it goes lol..

I like the variation in the comments about your chimes above. Goes to show you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time. There's a lot going on here...do you hear these chimes when you are trying to sleep? Well done...

I have two sets, as you well know ... one inside and one outside. The inside set hangs from a lamp, so it tinkles softly every time I turn that lamp on and off. It's lovely! It also chimes when I have the fan pointed in the wrong direction in the summer. LOL! I love my chimes. :D
