Description

In January some friends and I went up into the Skagit Valley to look for eagles. We saw several, and had a really fun day. I would love to tell you we hiked up into the mountains with our backpacks and our boots and our cold-weather gear in order to get photographs like this one. The truth is, we drove up there in a very comfortable, fancy truck and although it was chilly, I was pretty happy in shirtsleeves. This was taken up in the Cascade Mountains in Washington State. I don't know the name of the peaks ... the Cascades run from British Columbia down into Northern California, and in the area of this photograph, the mountain range is about 80 miles across. It's tough to know exactly which peaks these are! If memory serves, this was somewhere near Rockport, for those of you who know the area. Oh yeah ... I forgot to tell you ... full size is good! I left it big for you.

A magnificent shot of majestic mountains. I love living in the Northwest where we have beautiful mountains, the ocean, desert areas, rain forests...we have it all, don't we (including earthquakes and volcanoes)!

It is difficult to add beauty to a snow covered mountain range in a sentence or two. Needless to say, the Cascades make a fine subject for a very scenic photograph. I like the way you have framed your mountains using the foreground complete with what we'd call prairie grass here in Kansas:) Nicely done!

A wonderful panorama. This looks like avalanche territory, to me. Then again, as a South African, I do not have much experience of these climes! Looks cold! Clive

Snow is so gorgeous, when it is way the heck over there! And this image reminds me of why and where I like snow. I don't have to shovel it or walk through its slushy remains if it's looking pretty up in the mountains. As for this shot, it's beautiful. I love the sense of panoramic scale, the contrasts between the silhouetted plant life and the crisp, clean snow. This is superb and I love the crop.

Great capture. What a view- especially when you can do it in comfort. The full size is wonderful, the smaller image really doesn't do this shot justice. Beautiful image.
