Description

Midnight, Late September A full moon glows upon the trees Leaves once green, then gold, now ivory Whisper amongst themselves Ancient bedtime stories Preludes to winter's sleep Fill the air as summer fades to fall I turn from the window As tears surround my eyes You're leaving soon .. just hours As times before Your touch Your kiss Those gentle moans Shall be relegated to the past Banished to my dreams Lying down a'side you Where the world is ours alone My soul finds its harbor I ask for nothing more To trace the starlight on your lips Not to speak .. only to feel Melting deep within you Till the dawn ignites the night I ask for nothing more For in some hours you are gone These moments Now They are ours Forever things Never to fade away Moonlight in September Shining just this way -T. R. Bolan    I wrote those words when I was twenty three.  Until this portrait materialized a few hours ago, I had not recalled them in many years. Like a tender hearted ghost, which is what she'd have to be, this face looked out at me from the screen and somehow something changed inside .. I'm not even sure what that may be.  All I know is that I can't get back into the space I was in before this portrait came to be. In trying to figure out how I might explain this experience to you some lines from this poem came flowing back into my memory. I understand if it doesn't make sense what I am saying .. but it's just how it is.  If the image moves you, please share some thoughts.  It would be significant to me.  It took a while for me to root out the complete words; it's one of the few pieces from that time I've not burned. Thanks for reading through! Terry

This speaks of perfection, those times when you feel complete, at total peace with the world. It's everything you could want. This speaks of loss, separation from the one that completes you. You can spend a lifetime trying to find it again. She looks like she has lost as well. I see tears just behind the eyes. For me it was one perfect day during one perfect summer, something I have not experienced since.

You are at least as accomplished a poet as you are an artist, Terry. The poem is very touching, and the expression on her face makes me want to cry. Very lovely...
