Description

Still in the Wakodahatchee Wetlands and this photo was taken on March 1st. This is the mother Anhinga feeding her (I’m guessing about 10 days old) chick. That chick has about 8 inches (20cm) of its neck, jammed down its mother’s neck, eating lunch. Sorry if that description grosses you out but that is how it all works. I hope that you are enjoying my little corner of the world. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments and favs. Dana

this is one way of making sure the child eats what is there. If the human race had to do this, we'd not be here right now... I'm pretty sure

Oh well, the chick will probably learn some proper table manners as it grows up. Really terrific shot of the avian pair amidst all that wild thicket, Dana.

Fabulous shot. A rare look at dinner time habits of the Anhinga. I feel like I'm sitting at the table. Superb documentary on this family. I hope you can continue to follow the growth of this baby. I'm enjoying your photos so much.
