Description

This is another room setting from Blists Hill, Victorian Town. Visitors can check out the season’s latest fashions in the General Draper and Outfitters. There are various hats and gowns and shelves of coloured ribbons and lace. Most wealthy ladies undergarments were trimmed with lace, and very pretty they look too. The lighting in this scene wasn't very good but I think by only using what's there has created quite an atmosphere. Hope you like it. Thank you very much for all your comments on previous posts. In high school, I made my own money doing babysitting on weekends. I had 7 "regulars" (including one family with NINE kids!) but even with that, it slowed a bit when summer came around so I started offering seamstress services in the summer months. My room didn't look much different than this but I specialized in baby clothes. I could run up 3-4 dresses or diaper sets a day and always had outfits displayed in all available space - along with patterns, fabrics, trims, threads and the star of the show...my Singer sewing machine. Love this hard-working view.

Perfect pic for this sort of stuff! It brings back so many memories of my Grandma who had kept stuff from her mother and aunts!
