Description

Another room setting from Blists Hill, Victorian Town. This time, it's not so pleasant to look at as the previous 2 postings. If the workers arrived on the land owners farm and built 2 rough rooms with a roof on it within 24 hours, they could claim it as their own. The rooms, in which a family of up to 6 lived, were possibly 10 feet square and very basic. The costumed lady stopped briefly to speak with visitors but prior to that she had been pegging a rag rug (on the chair) to brighten and warm up the cold brick floor. Growing outside were vegetables and herbs and sometimes they kept hens or pigs.
