Description

This poem is as fresh as a fresh juice. Photos are from my collection. The man with the umbrella, is the boat man and it is his lively hood, taking people to both sides. You can see a coin left on the boat by a passenger. Re1/ per person is the fee. Excuse me! Its not him I mentioned here. Thank you every one for your inspiration and comments. I'm not sure to whom should I dedicate this!!! Lol!

In other places he has been called Charon. This is a wonderful poem which mixes the dread of the unknown that we must all face, with a light humorous tone. Throughout time man has grappled with the mysteries of that final journey. What better way to understand it than a trip across a unknown river, with a ghostly ferryman. I like your combination of an everyday occurrence with that mythological journey. The coin payment, reminds me of the custom of placing a coin in a dead person's mouth as payment for Charon. The first picture fits the image of your poem, a dark and shadowy figure, a long empty expanse of boat and a coin for passage. I love the last two verses! They mix the physical image of ferryman, with the reality of moving into a different reality and leaving wealth and breath behind. For those going there, we can only wish them the best. Excellent work!
