Description
Again the public garden at the Musée des Beaux Artes in Lyon. In the foreground the bronze called 'Adam' or 'The Shadow' (1902) by Auguste Rodin. In the background the more academic Flute Player and Child Giotto by other French sculptors.
The suffering figure of The Shadow is partly inspired by the shadowy sinners in Dante's Inferno as well as by the last Michelangelo's style. The other two figures also seem a bit blue. They're apt to sum up the ice-cold, razor-sharp wind called 'bora' in Northeastern Italy, which has been freezing our faces since yesterday, and at the moment is violently shaking my shutters.
Thank you for your kind comments.

Spectacular garden. You are right, they all have their heads down. I wonder if the wind dies down to they raise them up? I love how it looks like he is holding those plants in his hand. Great shot.

We were only slightly above freezing when I left for work this morning... I cleared slush from my care windows so I could see to drive. These guys don't seem to mind the weather, do they? LOL

Scatto molto interessante e ben costruito. Per il vento gelido anche qui si scherza poco ! E sono gia' tre giorni che la tramontana imperversa sulla zona ( in pratica soffro tanto freddo e perdo tante belle foto perche' si muovono anche gli alberi , figuriamoci un fiore! )

Wonderful composition. I envy you Europeans and your mature outlook on the arts. We could never exhibit these outdoors. They might pervert the children. Every year it seems to get worse here in the States. The fanatics see everything as pornographic.

This is a stunning composition and a superb presentation! Great information in your text, but what really draws me is the sense of emotion in this image: the statues are alive in a sense, more than just corroded bronze, copper or some such metal...they are supple and the shape of the leafless tree seems to dance with their form. Excellent work, beautifully seen.
