Description
Ships like other mechanical things need from time to time to be checked over and inspected as is the case of the " YANKCANUK. "
She sits in what is called a " floating dry dock " as opposed to a fixed one. This one can be sunk and positioned under the vessel in question, then the water pumped out and the ship lifted from the water. On the lakes its every 5 years a ship needs to be inspected so ergo the floating dry dock to accommodate such a venture. All in all its very interesting to watch.
Thanks for the peek...............

I always wondered how they did this! First time I've seen it and WOW. Stellar!

Super capture of a most vital auxiliary vessel!!! The destroyer my Dad served on in WWII was hit by a kamikazee while sitting in ARD-19 floating drydock at the battle of Leyte Gulf. First rate photo!

Nice shot. I've experienced being docked in one of these a couple of times; it's unusual to see objects on the shore get lower and lower as the dock lifts you.
