Description

I'm just taking a quick break today from my Namibia holiday! Today, for the first time, I have seen the South African inspired movie, Invictus, with Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. Although I have lived through this period in my country, I guess I have missed the smaller nuances of what was happening in many ways! I can truly recommend you watching this movie! Despite the movie being great, it was the poem that 'Nelson Mandela' told the rugby captain 'Francois Pienaar', was his inspiration through his 27 years of incarcination. The poem is called INVICTUS by William Ernest Henley. The last verse of this poem reads: "It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul." This very verse tore into my being as I immediately recognized so many people I know who are allowing other people and circumstances to steer their lives. It is deeply saddening. For you and myself I want to say today: You are the master of your fate You are the captain of your soul. Sorry if I sound a little weird, but this has touched deeply and because I am on the receiving end of someone as described above, even more so! Stay well! Hugs Carin xx

Oh Yes, Carin! It is not what happens to you that matters, so much as what you DO with what happens to you. I really believe that. And a most delicately beautiful photo too!

The poem has been an inspiration for me, too. It speaks of that point, different for each of us, where we take our stand and refuse to surrender.

Now that you've seen the heart-rending movie, Invictus, it's time now to also see District 9, Carin. Lovely soft color and textural effects in this capital macro, young lady!
