Description

This shot was taken at the last summer on my mothers balcony. I have read that this kind of cacti only bloom at night. This one probably made an exception for me. Thanks for looking!

Our Swedish Linné was the first who described this flower. He couldn't explain why it (mostly) blooms only in the night though! I searched the internet but couldn't find any exemplar as beautiful as Hendesse's..not even close. People don't know how to photograph.

What a stunning, stunning shot! I have not seen a flower like this before. Perhaps it blooms at night to give the bats that feed on nectar food? And as they feed from flower to flower, they help to pollenate them...like fuzzy hummingbirds.
