Description

Namibia 2010 I giggled now when I chose "architecture" as the genre for this image! I do not believe any engineer will call it such!! Hehehe... Anyway - this is the 'fence' of one of the houses in Henties Bay made entirely of driftwood. I'm not sure how effective it is but it sure is creative!!! Thank you for your kind comments and favs on my upload "Captivating Namib" of yesterday! You guys rock! Stay well! Hugs Carin xx

I love this! It's pretty well constructed especially given the assorted shapes the driftwood takes...I would imagine it might deter some larger creatures. And great find and capture, Carin!

Well it can atleast keep people out of there, but cats... hmmm naaa :-) Wonderful shot and it is sure creative :-) Have you see the lady, who creates horses and many other animals out of driftwood? http://weburbanist.com/2008/09/27/the-amazing-driftwood-sculptures-of-heather-jansch/5-heather-jansch-driftwood-horses/

I just love this--it's something I would do--in fact, gives me all kinds of ideas. Now I might have to start lugging big chunks of driftwood back on those beach walks of mine!!

very unusual to use, it must be difficult to create this! Or do you have a driftwood shop there? great shot! RS

Maybe if someone tries to get over this, the racket of it falling down would alert the homeower:-))) Very unique!

Some architects can be awfully bombastic about things like this, but I think it’s a great piece of inventive architecture. A great photo!

OMG, not exactly drift-wooding along with the tumbling tumbleweed, are we, Carin. Stellar POV employed to capture the clarity and lighting effects of the bizarre fence and surrounding environment in this snap, young lady.

Looks like living on the ocean has paid off in ample raw materials for this unique fence. Enjoyed seeing this great find and very well captured. Dana

Reminds me of a movie I just saw where the villagers would barricade their town to stop the bandits from entering. Such an interesting idea of this house owner. Interesting capture. Aloha

I love the fence, and at first I couldn't figure out why you thought it would be ineffective. Then I remembered the reasons for fences in your neck of the woods and it all fell into place. Around here they're either to keep the dogs in, or as decoration. This absolutely falls into the second category ... it's charming! Ek mis jou ook vrek baie, Dierbaar! :X

I love it Carin, wish I could have one just like it. And if it was soaked with salt maybe the termites wouldn't eat it either
