A work in progress! Hi! My name is Melinda. I am happily married to the love of my life and we have a daughter who is in college. I live in Southern California and I am an amateur photographer. My husband bought me my Kodak P880 for Christmas in 2006. I looked at it and thought I'd never figure it out! I've only taken regular every day snapshots and never looked through the lens in a "creative" way. Then in March 2007 someone introduced me to Renderosity.  In May, I became brave and decided to upload my first photo... I haven't been able to put my camera down since! LOL. I still have a lot to learn, but I sure am having fun doing it. I have come a long way though. This time last year, I couldn't even put a photo on the computer! Now I have started to research DSLR cameras ... Who knows what the future brings! Update: I now have that DSLR :) Was the best Christmas (2008) gift!   I did the research and picked it out and Santa put it under the tree. It's a Canon Rebel Xsi .

I have a new DSLR, the Canon 7OD. A gift from my husband for Mother's Day. So much to explore!

Beautiful. Doesn't a photo like this straight out of the camera make you feel good? I am glad I stopped here tonight...let me wish you well during your surgery and get well time. I took almost three weeks off from both posting and commenting during surgery I had last August. The break refreshed me in all ways. We'll be pulling for you and thinking about you:)

Wow this is stunning, have you framed this one yet and hung it somewhere, it sure would be beautiful to display.. Well Melinda, hang in there, I know exactly what you are going through this weekend, as I went through the same surgery, I hope you got the site mail I sent I never heard back from you but that is ok, I know how busy you are. I did the same thing before, I took care of as many things as I could possibly think to do, so I would have less stress. Please let me know how you are doing. Be strong, and you are in my thoughts. hugs to you!

I love this image! The POV is perfect as is the clarity. There's a particular and haunting mood to this, which is a nice feat, considering that it's a bright and not particularly brooding image. It's the subject matter itself I think, the way lighthouses always seem so isolated, so completely independent of the rest of land-based reality, but not exactly a part of the seascape. You've captured that so perfectly and I feel the vibe of it quite strongly. It's in the way the photograph is framed by the foliage and the rocks, and the people seem to heighten the mood immensely...they're clear but diminutive and again, not exactly the part of the image you would expect...yes, they're a part of the environment you captured, and by the woman's clothing, she looks as if she could be the lighthouse keeper's wife...but there's something just a wee bit...mysterious about her and the guy she's talking to. I really like that. This is brilliant work.
