Description

Hello everyone and thanks for looking... ...and thanks to everyone who commented on my last post and left helpful tips to the question I asked about setting up Poser 7 rendering. I really appreciate your help. Today I'm playing with Vue 7 Esprit. I recently posted a picture where I had to use some Photoshop postwork to try and fake some water ripples. Vue is great at rendering realistic water and refractions, but not so good at making waves or ripples, at least my version of Vue isn't. However, I got a great suggestion by gibby.g to try a trick using terrain brushes, and a cool tutorial at www.geekatplay.com. The water plane here is a terrain that was flattened out, then I used a terrain brush to 'draw' the ripples into it. I then changed the terrain to a wavy water material, and voila! Instant ripples! I then decided to get even fancier, and built the splash effect out of several torus rings and spheres all metablob'd together with the same water material. The sky and foliage rendered pretty quickly, but the water, and all the reflection/refractions took a fair amount of time, but I like how the effect came out. It rendered a little dark, but I lightened it up in Photoshop. How do you think I did? I'm looking forward to your comments on this one, and thanks again to the whole community for your help. Hmm, wonder if you could use a similar technique in poser 7 to make water. Poser has primitives like the torus. And the putty brush might work to add ripple distortion. Excellent work.

This is an awesome render. I love the water effect. I use Bryce from time to time and I can truly appreciate the amount of work that went into creating that effect. A superb job indeed. Keep em coming Tom this ones a fave.

I think it is a kickass great attempt. I can see why you tried the two styles of waves as this was an experiment but for pure artistry I would leave out the big uniform waves and just do the ones she is standing in... those are really the best and a tightly cropped image just focusing on them would be splashing .. er, smashing! The color, clarity and texture of that inner zone is stunning, everything else detracts from its visual impact, which will easily carry the image by itself with her included.
