Description

On that famous sunny Saturday in Chicago when the ninja photographers got together and had such a fun time, I took a LOT of pictures of Chip! It seemed like he was always in motion, always doing something, always engaged. Besides that, he's one of my favorite people on THIS planet (and absolutely my number one favorite on three others) and it's hard to NOT take pictures of him! You know him as author and artist, as the creator of worlds and characters and moods, as a lover of woodlice and a certain handsome Russian, as a chronicler of Chicago's quirks and charms. I hope you'll enjoy seeing him through these snapshots as friend and companion, as well. Chip is funny, thoughtful, silly, spontaneous, brilliant, charming, and cute as all get-out. His mind really is as encyclopedic as you might imagine, and he's a total hoot to hang out with. If the title of this post doesn't make sense to you, go check out Chip's gallery. It will all become clear in due time ... ... I just hope he doesn't kill me for this! LOL! CHIPKA

Nice collage, Tara! I've seen his photos and enjoy reading his thoughts on them. Seems like Chip's a pretty cool dude, and definitely commited to his art.

He cool too. I read his words and they are deep. He look like he knows what he doing here. It be hard for me to get down like he does to take shots. I do but it hard on me. he must be younger that me lol. Happy to see that not all Chicago is gangests like you read in books or see on tv. That is what I think of Chicago. Machine guns blasting out of 1920's cars lol I old

Eight first class pictures of the master of the Chicago's Greenwich Village writing crowd. Is there such a place? No, not by name but by intent. Great collage Auntie:)))

The man behind the carapace...! Great collage of one of my favourite artists/writers. (If he does kill you for this, it will be in the most artistic and articulate way possible, but I rather suspect he will choose some more appropriate punishment, like a tickle fest, or slow immersion in impossible-to-pronounce eastern european words...)

WONDERFUL! It makes me feel as though I too have met him, and shows all those qualities you mention. And I'm glad you squeezed Kafka in there too.

Thanks for the wonderful look at the "Man of Words!" I enjoyed the insight. Now I don't know if Chip has balance that fine, or if you added the Pepsi beverage, but it shows a propensity for choosing that over Coke, and I'm sure that could lead into a very dark story with inky shadows exactly the shade of Pepsi, along with bubbles continuously emerging from unknown sources and bursting forth in a cacophony of little tiny sounds having meaning that can only be realized if you are listening with intensity...

Now THERE is a dedicated photographer at work... Look at that ..... crawling on the floor! If I tried that here, I'd be carted off! To somewhere where small strange looking men wear white coats! And the rooms are padded! Brilliant! Take care guys.. Have fun... Rob

Those are so cool--I'm torn between my fave being the one of him in front of the fountain, or the one looking down into that teeeny sidewalk paving (I wonder what is down there?) Such a nice character study!

This is excellent! Each photo is a window and the composition superb! A wonderful example of his many faceted talent and personality. I don't think I could pick a favorite, but only a favorite of the moment. This moment it is the eyes looking a Kafka. Perfect title and collage!
