Description

Ok for everyone who knows me, you know that I tried and tried to get these all last summer. In my house they were referred to as Cheri's Pelicans anytime anyone here was talking about them. I guess they didn't like my old camera. Dave drug me away from my business project to take my new camera out to get some shots of the ice shoves. I have those to show you yet too. These guys came back again this year and were starting to nest on the island you see behind them. Ah ha, now I know where they are nesting too, and the new camera have a 5x zoom with the lens that came with it. It's an awesome camera, I have no idea why these went on clearance, but it's mine now. Whoo hooo. I thought I would take out a few minutes. I was getting frustrated anyway trying to find people to salvage the e-party my sister said she would have, had me set it up with her on the phone, email her the invite for her friends to her, and left at that point to die. She never emailed out the invites. No one came, and this thing ends tomorrow. So I have been trying to salvage it. Not for her, but for the mere fact, this was the first one. She is going to be mad at me, but I am not giving her the hostess gift for doing absolutely nothing. The hostess gift is for having an e party not saying you will but don't. Besides I had to buy it myself to use as a hostess gift. Sorry, frustration venting going on here. She never used to be this type. When she used to say sure I'll help, she did. Now she won't even answer the phone. Thanks for stopping by and listening, I am still stalking when I can. I don't always leave comments. I do when I know I have time to stick around a bit. Much Love and Peace, Cheri

Stellar capture of the placid pelicans basking in the lovely lake, and who always remind me of cartoon characters, Cheri. And ain't kinfolk nice? And, what the ding dong is an e-party? Is that anything like the tea party they keep talking about lately on the radio vis-a-vis politics?

This is a beauty Cheri. I can see that some have breeding bumps on their bills. That should get you some nesting shots and baby pelicans later on. Dana

Dana identified the bumps. I was wondering. I noticed the one with the biggest bump is the leader. Isn't that always the way. Congrats on your new camera and for getting out of the house. As for your sister, been there, done that. I loaned mine $2K five years ago to help her save her house. You can probably guess what happened after that. But that's the old saying, families exist because you wouldn't dare treat strangers that way!

This is a great image! I never imagined something as exotic as pelicans living anywhere near the Midwestern USA, which just goes to show what I know about avian life in this country! Oh well. What an image and I'm happy to see it! Great work as always...and well, what wysiwig says makes sense in terms of family...I tend to look at my own family as something of a display of happenstance. I'm only related to them because of biology! Of course I have a family of choice and I'm not physically related to any of them!

WoooHoooo!! New Camera!! YES! Pelicans??? In Wisconsin??? Holy Cow .. who would've ever guessed! I always thought they were striclty a tropical bird! Do they always come here? This is one amazing shot!! Not to worry about getting around too much .. I think we all understand. I fall behind all the time, and I'm not even working!!! Family is a strange thing .. maybe she feels guilty because she didn't do what she was supposed to and so is doing the avoidance thing .. expecting righteous indignation from you.

I love pelicans! Excellent shot! Congrats on the capture and new camera! I'm sorry about the e-party. That must have been the height of frustration and disappointment, especially for the first one. I hope you have better luck, and a more reliable hostess, next time.
