I'm a software engineer by day. I spend my time pushing ones and zeros around, which is not as easy as it sounds. They're slippery little devils.BIOI discovered fractals in the mid 80's with Fractint on what must have been a 25 MHz processor. Around 2001 I upgraded all the way from 400 MHz to 1.8 GHz, and thought about making fractals again. I discovered Fractal Explorer, and later XenoDream. These days I use mostly XD and MBF, with an occasional image from ChaosPro and Quasz, since I've always loved quaternions.
For my photography I use a Canon 30D. My primary lenses are a Canon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 EF DO IS USM and a Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS USM.

Wonderful shot!!

I like your shot even if it didn't turn out the way you wanted. I love going to the beach and looking at driftwood to see what shapes I can find. For starters, I see a lady with her leg up in the air and a boot on. And I see a side view of a dwarf seated in a beach chair with a towel over his arm. Okay, I'll stop before you have me committed.

A good shot. Nice to see the other aspect.

Wow, I just logged into Rendo and bumped right into your new posting. At first I thought I was seeing things. LOL. So this is "The Far Side",...kind of Gary Larson like don't you think? Very neat Dennis...like the idea of using the sky as the backdrop and shooting from down low. Here we have another example of several photogs shooting the same scene and winding up with a completely different take on the subject. Great getting together the other day!

Great to see the timber from both point of view Dennis. Anyway I think it's a smashing photograph of raised arms, and the figure on the right looks as if he has his hands together and is shouting at the sky. When viewed large, the wood is a lot lighter and moredetailed in colour. I like both effects.

great point of view !

You have to try to get the picture you want. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's just sooo close. Good job here anyway.

I actually see Barbara's dwarf in the lawn chair with the towel! :D This turned out well. I'm glad to see what you saw while you were hiding down there! The shapes and patterns look great against the sky, and I like the texture of the larger logs.

Superb Dennis

"I think we should go that way <<<<" "No, it looks tooooooo dark there! Let's try over that way >>>>>" It looks like a committee... or maybe a hiking group ;) I love the effect against the clouds. To get the silhouette you need to be right in the shadows, I think.

You are kidding, right? I thought you had vanished. ;~) Great shot. Looks like dinosaurs to me. Thanks for sharing.

Good to see you again my friend. Its an interesting shot as I see on the top right a dragon's head relaxing in his drift wood chair. Nice shot. Aloha

Silhouette or not, it looks just beautiful! This is one of my favourite kinds of wood… I love to collect pieces of this wood… it's been quite some time since this odd inexplicable fascinating struck me! I really like the mood and the tone you've created in your image. Very peaceful….. very much to the contrary of the "Driftwood" we know here in Toronto ( a really bad area to be in ) :)

Very nice and interesting shot!
