Outstanding! The young ones usually are fearless, so it is difficult for them to survive without mama around. Hope you didn't cross her. ;c) But what a great opportunity. I miss Lake Tahoe. Haven't been there since last summer.

Egad, Marilyn, I suspect the cute little juvenile hasn't learned as yet to be wary of humans bearing cameras. In any event, super stellar clarity, lighting effects and feather patterns and textures on display in this one!

What an amazing shot! Hawks are such handsome birds, but then raptors in general are amazingly intense in appearance! They fit their name, or their name fits them, and I suspect that they know it. Also, recently, the term "bird brain" has been redefined as biologists, behaviorists, or whoever they were, discovered that birds in general are a lot smarter than originally thought: their brains are wrinkly, which means that they're bigger than they get credit for being. Well...that's all moderately useless aside information. Back to my main point: I love this shot. It's incredibly intense, and I'd love to have met this avian critter up close myself! Superb work! WOW!
