Description
The Frari’s Basilica. The Altar of the Relics. The marble bass-reliefs are by Francesco Penso, known as Cabianca (1665-1737). Detail: THE DEPOSITION. In this scene the distraught group of people is wider at the base of the sculpture and pinnacles at the top with the man who is clambering up the ladder in order to lower the lifeless body of Christ using a sheet.
